SR22: Upgrade to WAAS

If you mean a glide path, no. It has a vertical calculator though.

Of course I know the VNAV calculator, I used that all the time. I just thought you could maybe let it descend to a point. The newer Cirruses with Garmin Perspective have such a feature and you can design your own glidepath to any point/altitude.

That is a g1000 onwards feature.

What I have never done:
What if I select the threshold waypoint on NAV #2 and set the altitude of the threshold and adjust the descent rate according to the Vertical Navigation Calculator? With the DFC90 autopilot you can just put your hand on the knob and adjust the descent rate quickly …

Does anybody do that? Until now I just adjusted the descent rate according to the table on the LNAV approach chart.

That will work.

Welcome to avionics upgrades at US prices…..

Would this not be a safer bet for an extra $1000

I wonder if similar deals can be had in Europe?

EGBE (COVENTRY, UK)

I’d rather have the Avidyne system (if, finally, the bugs that were reported were solved)

- Nicer user interface
- touchscreen AND knobs for all features
- max. 3 clicks to any screen
- very nice flight planniung features

And it’s a plug&play system if you already have GNS430*W*’s (and the necessary WAAS antennas of course)

Somebody just calculated purchase cost, time and material for installation and used market prices of the swap avionics and put a price tag on it. I don’t see why this could not be done in Europe.

The prices will be very similar, but of course you have to pay the VAT and freight. If you talk to a company like Avionik Straubing you can always try to get a good deal too.
