I’ve had a Danish license for several years and have always been very satisfied with it.
I recently renewed my license, which requires the issuance of a new one.
Now the agency has informed me that it currently takes between 8 and 10 weeks to issue a license. This is completely unacceptable.
When I asked whether, in the meantime, the examiner at the ATO where I completed both the refresher course and the check flight, etc., could issue a temporary authorization (explicitly provided for by Denmark in the EASA Examiner Differences Document and at https://www.examiner.dk/procedures/temp-permit), was denied on the basis that my authorization had expired more than 3 years ago.
But that’s not stated anywhere as far as I know, because the 3-year period applies only to manual entries – or does anyone know the legal basis for this?
As I said, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with the Danish CAA so far. Very friendly, very fast – has something changed there? What’s the background to this? Does anyone know?

They must be related to the Norwegian CAA 
It is completely unacceptable indeed. I’m actually wondering about changing to an Irish PPL. From what I have heard recently they are much easier to deal with, and much, much faster and more proffesional. For me it’s not only a symptom, but the very definition of a completely dysfunctional entity when they cannot even do the regular, everyday stuff they are supposed to do by law. I have zero respect for stuff like that. I don’t want to be associated with it.
So that’s my only suggestion (based on loose rumors for sure, but nonetheless ).
“Fun fact” – I chatted with a really friendly staff member yesterday about this issue, and she explained to me that it’s currently taking so long to issue a license… I’m not sure, but she surely could have been taken care of in that amount of time…
That aside, if it’s taking them that long, why don’t they just let my examiner issue the temporary permit? In my opinion, that should be legally possible—at least they haven’t been able to show me any regulation that would legally prevent it…
Having French and Irish licences that timescale is pretty much in keeping with my experience. Just hope they do not lose the paperwork. DGAC lost my aircraft change of ownership paperwork. It took 7 months to sort out……………..

Sadly that has not been my experience. Took them 5 tries to issue the initial licence correctly (a transfer from UK due to Brexit), although the first improperly issued licence was the UK’s fault. I also have never been able to get them to accept that I paid their fee. Sent all of the FX routing messages and transactions showing up on my accounts, and every year or two then tell me again that I haven’t paid. Countless emails and phone calls never seem to get it sorted out. They don’t get my vote for competence.
