IFR SEP in Canada

Hello,
does anyone know the way to get a IFR (SEP) rating in Canada? VISA requirement for EU citizen? and flightschools to recommend?
I have a UK EASA PPL incl Night rating
also to convert later to EASA lang i guess same way as with US IR?
as it looks we got an extentcion until April 2016 this could be interesting for me, just could do without that hassle and time consuming VISA etc.
or any other suggestions?

thanks

Since Canada signed the Chicago Convention, I expect you should be able to convert a Canadian IR to EASA just by doing a Skill Test with a EASA examiner the same way you would if you had a US IR.

That said you would need to have at least 50 hrs as PIC under IFR to convert using this route according to EU regulation 245/2014, Section Aa paragraphs 4 and 8.

EASA are negotiating a bi-lateral agreement which might provide an even easier route to converting a US IR to EASA by doing a proficiency test rather than a skill test.
