FAA written exams in Europe - no more

Yes, that’s what I meant.

Obviously Timothy can correct me, but I think he means that he can do the paperwork for getting a ‘piggy-back’ license – FAA 61.75 – for fixed-wing as well as helo pilots. As far as I know, he cannot do piston check-rides.

Adam House is OK but he never did piston checkrides. If he does them now, that is good news.

Many thanks for the quick replies.

Timothy, do you have contact info for Adam House? Feel free to send me a PM if you don’t want to post it publicly. I assume by “non helo paperwork” you mean performing and signing off an airplane SEL flight test.

Visiting FAA DPE examiners were blocked some years ago. I did my FAA CPL c. 2008 and I was one of the last ones, give or take 1 or 2 other attempts. A sensitive topic, with threats of litigation etc. The less said the better! I would rather not delete posts.

Funny. That points back to

See http://www.schaircraft.com, website of Tom Houghston. I did my IR flight test with him.

Tom Hughston is the only FAA examiner in Europe for airplane ratings. IIUC there is another one for helos.

Most of this chain is about doing an FAA written test in Europe, but does anyone know if there are any FAA DPE’s in Europe?

I’m thinking of perhaps an American who is living in Europe for a few years and has DPE credentials. The FAA web site of DPE’s is organized by FSDO, so it appears that a DPE in Europe would need in any case to (still) be associated with an FSDO.

The specific case is someone with a full FAA ATPL MEL only, who needs a flight test in an SEL to get it added to his certificate so he can fly an N-reg SEP in Europe. As far as I can tell, he’ll need to go to the US to do it.
