Not required for private flights unless operating near Laayoune, Dakhla, Guelmime, Bouarfa and Tan-Tan. Flight plans need to be submitted 6hr beforehand for IFR and 12hrs for VFR.

We had a crew there about 3 months ago and it was relatively simple.

Well, there is a third one, which is flying along the coast below the radar, and that one also doesn’t need them

Having flown quite extensively in Morocco, this is total BS. All you need is a FPL (they sometimes squawk if filed less than 24h in advance) and if VFR you need to fly the published routes. That’s it.

- You get the permissions from the airports, and VISA if you need it
- You file a flightplan
- You fly the published VFR routes and make position reports

That’s all.

Morocco was much less complicated than Greece. Almost zero traffic, very good ATC, friendly people, low fees, cheap fuel – and geat nature.

That’s all.

That applies more or less to every country in the world including the USSR, Somalia, Angola, Upper Volta, Iraq, Syria and Yemen

The first line is the key… if you do need a permission (not applicable to Morocco for GA, seemingly), you generally need the permission from the airspace owner, not just the airport

Might also be an idea to check your insurance covers Morocco, and not just for overflight along standard routes.

I have never flown to Morocco (a TB20 can only just make Tangier from Shoreham; zero reserves )

But you could make the Canary Is direct from a stop in S. Spain like Malaga, etc, or not? That is, Canary Is from Shoreham with just one stop?
