September 2019 fly-in: Montenegro, Tivat / Kotor LYTV 7/8 September

What I intend to do or wish to do and what I can to do are two different things in summer .
I’ll put myself in the list later on , if I see there is some feasibility

Pegaso airstrip, Italy

This is what I have so far

Could the people with missing aircraft type above let me have those, ASAP please.

Unfortunately I have bad news. This morning I got an e-mail from LYTV that they couldn’t accept 15 aircrafts because their apron capacity is limited to 5 and no grass parking is allowed. I pointed out that they had previously confirmed parking for 15 to 20 aircrafts but they replied it had been a mistake i.e. that they had overseen the number.

Our options are to cancel the trip, change trip destination or some of us to fly to LYTV (5) and the rest to fly to LDDU and take the bus to Kotor.

Opinions and suggestions?

More efforts are ongoing. Their apron is massive.

I’ll have definite answer from LYTV on Tuesday – they will give me the max number of planes they can accept.

I expected that reply. They have always been very annoying about parking arrangements at LYTV, despite a decent sized GA apron (massive is an overstatement).

But: it‘s beginning of low season, so if Emir can hassle them a bit, and say it‘s the annual flyout of a major pilot‘s organization (and that some good publicity might ensure) maybe there is chance to soften them up a bit. But it tends to be a difficult task with these folks.

I expected that reply.

Then why not have posted it?

People have made arrangements etc…

A community like we have here relies on participant input.

It’s like the Venice one a few years ago. Someone mentioned way too late the film festival was on. We moved it to Portoroz and most cancelled.

I can’t do everything and check everything and hassle every airport.

Well, it‘s not that I knew, but it certainly alpeared odd to me that they would say yes to a group of 15+ aircraft so quickly.

Actually, it is just normal to run into these problems. Most (airline) airports in the south of Europe (incl. France, Spain, Italy and Ex-Jugoslavia) would say no to such big group. 5 tends to be the max they accept at the first shot. So the problem would have come up with most other airline airport destinations as well.

A group of 15 aircraft simply is a very unhandy size and difficult to handle (litterally!), so problems have to be expected.

In fact, it‘s often not only a matter of parking space, but also of handling capacity. Most of these smallish airline airports tend to have about a handful of ramp people on duty at a given time. So how these ensure ramp security if 15 aircraft arrive more or less at the same time? They HAVE to escort everybody, especially where, as in Tivat, GA and airline aircraft share one single apron, and why would they go any risks?

I am sure a solution will be found.

There appear to be enough buses.

Also some won’t turn up. In the group we know about, some are not responding to the request for aircraft type…

I would be happy with a bus from Dubrovnik, except I plan to fly on to LGIO which is in the opposite direction.
