EDDL Düsseldorf vs EDLN Moenchengladbach?

Once they told me, that they have to rent the hi-vis to minimum one of the crew, and charge for it of course. But in fact they will guide you the 10 seconds walk, because they are really nice guys over there.

Sorry, saw this thread too late and now can only confirm what boscomantico and eddsPeter have written.

Total bill will be round about 100 EUR (tested with various types between 1000 and 1500kg MTOW). If no high-vis avbl, the guys would “escort” you for the few meters.

One additional thing: If you land after the GAT has closed, you might find yourself alone on the apron. You will be expected to walk to the airport’s gate 1 (“Tor 1”). This is reachable via the marked footpath from the GAT in the direction of the main terminal. I never tested but I don’ think re-entry would be possible in this way.

Here’s an interesting recent data point:

PA28 landing with 1157kg: 51,16 EUR all in.

Yes. He paid:

  • lower landing and starting fees, since he was <1.2 tons
  • no parking fee, since he stayed less than three hours
  • no credit card fee, since he paid cash
  • no noise fees, since he wasn’t in an SR22, C210 or TB20

So, in any <1.2 ton GA type, it is really affordable. 51€ if staying less than 3 hours, and 75€ if staying up to 24 hours.

In any >1.2<2.0 ton GA type (unless it’s an SR22, C210 or TB20…), both above numbers are 19€ higher.

All that is if you pay cash. Otherwise plus 6(!)€.

Of course, you then get charged 14€ by DFS on top of that.

I thought the EU had abolished card fees. Might it be just the UK?

They have, but that doesn’t prevent some companies from charging card fees anyway. It would be interesting to try to recover them from the card company.

What does the starting fee refer to?

They charge per movement. It doesn’t matter though. They could charge only once, and double the amounts. It all doesn’t matter. What matters is the bottom line.

The Swedish have ONLY starting fees, and no landing fees, mind.

Just wondering about the plausible scenario: you start-up, go to the fuel pump and start-up again?
I don’t think I will have to pay twice if forgetting chocks or trying many winter start-ups

We used to have only landing fees. I don’t know what brought about the change or why it would matter.

Negative – paid with Visa (actually, Apple Pay).

Are you sure about that? I don’t remember having paid an additional credit card fee ever on the previous visits. I never paid cash.
