IFR to Ibiza LEIB feasibility

@Ibra

Check rules and regs of this particular airport in the AIP and you will find the answer

Don't get too slow

But anyway, it is messy…costs more than 20€ to produce an invoice alone!

I agree, on prices you can argue that anything in 10% of flying price is reasonable (unless one also complains about headwinds/tailwinds)
On services offred/expected that is debatable,
- handlers/FBO who arranges fuel/customs (even fill forms) while charging resonable price
- handlers/FBO who only escorts you for a 5min walk and charges full fuel tank, no thanks

Murcia (LEAM): Iberia charged the minimum service fees as per the fee schedule prescribed by law, with an additional scribble of “Manpower: €250” on the invoice. They have you over a barrel as if you don’t pay, you won’t be taken back to your aircraft to depart.

The only case when I got a poor handling experience it was in Lille (LFQQ), they were late 1h to pick us and we missed a pre-booked TGV train, so we booked next one in 3h

I used the place regularly but one person who did “take care of us” that day just had a bad day (or simply did not like us, or forgot about us), so we took the opportunity to go-back and forth between aircraft and terminal: we got escorted to the aircraft 3 times to pick my passport on 1st one, my headset on 2nd one and my wife went back to pick her hat on 3rd one, we had “load of fun” that morning , I still use Lille regularly as I believe it was just a one day/one person bad experience…

Mandatory handling is different from “handling per-arranged” before departure/landing
As I said, if one does not need fuel/customs and have a spare day they can go with light interpretations of the AIP
If you need fuel/customs you better get everything aligned and just pay whatever the handlers ask for

That’s an astonishing change in Spain.

Agreed ! This puts Ibiza back on the list if true.

Sorry – the pandemic got the better of me and I never got around to replying to this thread. With the way the CAA exams closed down and likely won’t happen in the future, I am probably feeling like this week in Ibiza is out of the question for now as I still haven’t got the theory done for the CB-IR route. But I might fancy a short-break to San Sebastian.

Being Spain and Iberia handling? Can anyone vouch for there recent experiences going there VFR? The route there looks rather fun, and avoids lots of places as most of it is danger areas? Class D is acceptable VFR on-top right? i.e FL90 from the UK FIR down to San Sebastian otherwise doing a fun euro trip this year looks impossible.

Hi Robbie,

If you are still considering this, then do get in touch. I’m based in Mallorca but used to instruct at EGSG, and have a decent amount of DA40 time (I think I know your one!). I’ve also done ferries UK – Spain and vv including handling stops in France. If you wanted a safety pilot for the trip then I could definitely help you out or even if you just want some advice feel free to get in touch.

So, any recent PIREPs from LEIB during Corona time? I’ve read somewhere that they’d at least wanted to drop the 60€ passenger screening tax. Anyone got recent experience?

Germany

Going to LIEB on Saturday and the pax screening tax has increased to €70

LFMD - Cannes Mandelieu, EGLL - London Heathrow, France

Be aware it’s pax and crew on both ways (arrival and departure…)

LFPT Pontoise, LFPB

My (recent) information is that the screening thing depends on the handler used and the agreements taken. There is Ibiza Air and Aviapartner. AFAIK, the huge screening charges only apply if you pass through the GAT, but it is generally also possible to get screened in the main terminal. However, these things might change very rapidly with all the Corona related developments.

I’ve not forgotten this trip. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet got the IR, it’s in progress now so maybe closing parties for Ibiza 21’ if that season even exists this year.

I wouldn’t pay that, as I bet that’s PP? These sorts of charges are a joke. Do the likes of easyJet with 200 odd on an A321 pay this? That’s £12k of costs per flight.

200EUR for a week incl parking is where prices should be for these major airports.

Seeing the Balearics on the list gives me the idea for the closing season. Doubt it’ll still be on that Green list by then.
