Vis in the Split area at sea level is around 1km
I flew from Tivat to Mali Losinj on the 6th and visibility was very bad, I have never seen it like this. Metar at Brac was 3km and Split 6km because of smoke. From 0 to 6000 ft the view was like this:
Higher-up the visibility was better (picture at 10.000ft), but you could clearly see and smell the smoke. When passing Zadar, the smoke was gone.
If nothing N of Zadar, that’s OK.

Looking at wx over the Alps, TS building up nicely. Trip cancelled. Too many factors adding up. Very sorry to the others!

so pretty much as forecast by ECMWF and – unusually – all the other sources (except GFS) for the preceeding 5 days. But – as is common with convective wx – you can also see the route out of there, towards N Italy.
Glad I didn’t try to go – I would have been stuck there until this lot went away.
