Prague Fly-in May 1-3 2015

To add:

The first four items were paid on one invoice and the last three were paid on another invoice.

What I have found on the last 3+ visits is that you will never get anyone at LKPR to quote you the whole lot. All the people you are likely to email with will quote you either the first lot, or the second lot.

A couple of years ago I got quoted just the second lot, and not believing it I queried it but it was confirmed. So it looked like the airport had drastically dropped its prices, down to ~2005 levels, which would have been brilliant for GA accessibility for Prague. Then, upon departure, I was presented with much higher costs.

There is no suggestion of dishonesty but these people are just not organised to communicate properly.

Once, at Split LDSP, they honoured an incorrect (too low) quote and charged me just the lower price. It was really decent of them.

As to what those two fee names mean… well, come to the UK and do the very popular University of Upper Warlingham MBA in Business Bullsh1t Technology Or import something via any air or sea freight company, etc, from China, and look at the way they bill…

What are “turn-around” and “disbursement” fees for?

I was going to post it and then forgot.

All in Euros.

Fuel 358.7 (150 litres)
Slot assistance 9.11
Turnaround 54.68 (don’t laugh)
Disbursement 35.87 (don’t laugh)
Landing 46.40
Parking (day) 55.34
Parking (night) 19.40

On the last two I am not sure about the calculation but I parked for 3 nights, arriving about 1200Z and departing 0800Z.

So, excluding fuel, LKPR costs around €150 for say 1 night – same as last year.

There was no other GA apart from that one SR20 or 22 which was also there last year.

Great pictures Peter.

I might have missed it in the thread somewhere, but what costs did you end up with at LKPR?

Oxford and Bidford

OK, here is a load of pics…

At Shoreham, with my two passengers who are still smiling… ignorance is bliss

Climbing up through a bit of cloud

Settled at FL160, -13C; the strategy being that one won’t likely get airframe icing at -13C and we could not climb totally above the haze

Descending to Prague, ILS runway 24

Three others on the ILS before me, according to the TAS display on the KMD550

Runway in sight, just about

Two airliners waiting to depart. ATC had earlier asked our IAS and used that to fit us in somehow

Somebody made this hangar a bit too small!

Czech food can be “challenging”

The usual – Charles Bridge. This time it was really packed and not easy to walk across it

This was a nice cafe/restaurant

Colm, Sheldon (my younger son), Justine and me

Walking up the hill; much nicer than taking the funicular railway which had a massive queue

This tower had great views, plus another queue

One of my predecessors – clearly a VFR pilot

Somebody had been trained in the UK!

A certain type of plant seems to be legal… not that I would know anything about that; didn’t touch the stuff even at univ

The statue of Masaryk; the first Czech president

A very dense hot chocolate and a cheesecake – nice but…

The famous tower with the apostles which pop in and out of the windows every hour or so

A nice cafe… one could imagine the spies doing their business under the table there

The old national museum – closed for a few more years

The new museum – but it had nothing it in!

A lovely mosaic in a restaurant

Teenagers can still eat this stuff…

The former Stalin memorial site

Back at the airport, passengers swapped over, and the clouds looking very low

You can’t do this “VFR”… not even tongue in cheek (well in the UK you can)

FL100 (that altimeter is still on QNH) and still +3C which was nice

And apart from a few lumps, that’s how it was all the way home
