Le Touquet LFAT Sunday 24th January 2016

It looks like a rare flyable day here in the UK.

However my life raft is out for overhaul and probably won’t be back in time so I will try to borrow one.

How high would you have to fly over to stay in glide range on your preferred route?

Not possible VFR, and not possible with any IFR departure clearance / routing.

With a motor glider one could do it, VFR.

There should be just enough time to eat a fish and go for a swim

Peter, on what site do you find this forecast graphs? Belgium doesn’t look that well sunday.

These are the UK Met Office MSLP charts.

They appear on various sites – e.g. discussed here

I use a private site which gets them from elsewhere, in the proper order, and strips off the adverts – for satellite phone use etc.

Right – Belgium doesn’t look too great, but the cloudbase cannot be obtained (with anything resembling reliability) using any means other than metars and tafs.
