Meet-up at Alderney EGJA - May 2016

How many would be interested?

What is the accommodation situation like? I cannot find any way to search on booking.com (on can just do “Channel Islands”) and the tourist site= has only a few places on it. But then Alderney is obviously small.

Alderney has been on my wish list for a long while. Camping under the wing would be ok with me – if the aerodrome operator allows it – but April would likely be too chilly for that. Perhaps I could set up a base somewhere in France from which to fly over for the day – but it would need to have customs, then, yet be rural enough to allow camping on or near the field.

There is an array of accommodation available on Alderney from the ‘swish’ Braye Beach Hotel to more basic B & B accomodation.

A full list can be found here . . .

There’s also a camp site by the beautiful Saye Bay which used to have ‘ready erected’ tents – although it’s many years since I last stayed there.

For me the same: I have already a whole trip prepared to Alderney, ready to use, but April won’t work.

I think this one should be on alderney: http://lharas.internet.alderney.gg/ got the link a few years ago from another pilot as tip.

21-24 April is Friedrichshafen

April is probably a bit tight… I could do 16/17.

FYI?

I believe the Georgian House Hotel also runs / manages the Victoria Hotel. Both are in St Anne’s and between them have several good rooms. The restaurant in the Georgian should be able to sort out a dinner, and the Bar is now open till 0030 (which might mean some of the rooms are noisier than a Rotax?)

I have no connection with either, but have enjoyed staying there. Would love to pop over and join a landaway but probably doing a tour of Europe during April / May.

I’m booked up for the whole of April I’m afraid, but would be up for late May or June?

Just a thought, but how about postponing until June (24-26) and then joining in the Alderney Fly In?

http://flyalderney.com/2014-fly-in.html

The Fly In is always good fun with organised gatherings/meals for those who wish to partake. It could be a great opportunity for Peter to distribute some EuroGA leaflets!!! There will be loads of other pilots to meet/exchange stories with too.

The welcome is very warm and transfers to and from the airfield to your choice of overnight accommodation may well be thrown in (I’d be happy to check this out and get any further information if required).

@Jan_Olieslagers – I’m pretty sure you won’t be allowed to camp under your wing but there is definitely a great campsite and bicycle hire (should you wish).

I might be interested in Alderney this weekend – 16/17 April.
