Visiting Cambridge EGSC

Unfortunately, any airfield in the UK of even moderate size becomes “Jobsworth Central”, often with too many people who delight in telling you what you can’t do, and making anything you can do as bureaucratic and inconvenient as possible. For all the complaints, EASA isn’t even 1/100th an impediment to going flying compared to actual airports, which are supposed to facilitate flying! If you’re not getting visiting traffic in and out of an airfield, you fail at being an airfield. Looks like Cambridge is a big fail right now – shame, I had planned to visit this summer.

This is indeed really bad. And stupid of them. Previously, the NOTAM was until the 30th of April, and everybody thought they would sort it out for summer. Now NOTAMed until 28th of July. It ruins the “touristic” season. Including Flying Legends, etc. Typical UK “can’t do” attitude.

And if you are based there and fly what looks on FR24 like a DIY IAP, on a weekend, they kick you off the airport.

@Timothy
I’m curious, how many steps are there down from a Michelin star to McDonald’s? 2? 3? 10?

Any tips for lunch in Cambridge?

Bobo, the other option is to ask nicely at the flying club for a couple of passes into the ‘works canteen’, food is really good there and no travelling required.
