Blockquote issue

There is a bug around the construct.

It is essential that the (i.e. the one which ends the quote) is followed by at least 1 blank line.

If there is no blank line there, it can affect the formatting of the rest of the post. As far we can tell nothing goes missing but some intentionally blank lines disappear.

Most posters do insert a blank line there already (and using the quote button inserts a blank line too) but some posters appear to remove that before typing the rest of the post.

Test without blank line.

Some more text over here.

And some text here with blank line above.
And more text here glued to the one above.

I don’t see the issue you describe, my two posts above work as expected.

Not quite. Try it with some more text afterwards, with blank lines between.

The above post contains this

I have just checked a particular poster who does it every time and it is an Apple client but it’s not possible to tell which one. Well, it is Safari under OS X 10.14.3.

Does the Quote feature, under Safari on a Mac, not insert the blank line under the training blockquote?

It does. However, I usually remove it (but I’m not the OS X 10.14.3 user) to reduce the amount of whitespace. Particularly if you have successive quotes, if you leave the blank line the amount of whitespace before the next quote will be less than the amount of whitespace after the previous quote which looks odd.

I cannot reproduce any variable spacing. Having the blank line after the training blockquote seems to produce a uniform result in a post containing multiple quotes.

Could you please post (or send me) some example?
