How about a sticky or something like that where members can help out or offer help for fellow members, for example as an FE I am more than happy to offer free revalidations by experience for ratings (especially as GR examiners can't do it now and there are plenty of cowboys out there that will charge for this paperwork exercise). I realise the forum doesn't want ads but this is subtly different?
We are happy to have ads in the right context and from "helpful" individuals or bodies - see the Guidelines.
Regarding sticky threads, speak to David 
They do have their drawbacks, however. A lot of them go stale.
