Why you should keep your plane well greased

2 X TB20 48010101 => 321.60 euros ea
2 X TB20 48010102 => 317.45 euros ea

And I do maintain the plane very well! These parts got a bit tight, so I am buying new ones and will clean up the old ones to keep as spares.

All airframe parts, all aircraft makes, come at these sorts of prices.

Hmm, seems most US built planes use standard AN or MS parts in that application.

Hi Peter,

+1 for plenty of grease.

Incidentally, they’re somewhat different aircraft, but a new sealed Maule wing strut, painted ready for installation, costs a lot less than your two TB20 widgets. By and large, Maule parts are not too expensive, which is perhaps just as well for a bush plane…

well, not really. Once I had an issue flying a motoglider (Vivat for Ultranomad) with mechnically controlled landing gear right after the annual inspection. And the landing gear can´t be locked in the down position when we approached the destination. After landing with unlocked gear we find out that someone put huge amount of grease into the locking mechanism preventing the lock to work properly.

I got an entire aileron (including fabric work) for the Auster for about £400 :-)
