Bank transfers in the UK

However, foreign payments remain expensive. I don't think we can pay anybody outside the UK for less than £6, and often it reaches something like £15, and that is paying just our half of the charges. My personal bank charges about £20 minimum.

There is EU legislation prohibiting banks from charging more for EU transfers than for domestic transfers. Given that domestic transfer are usually free of charge over here, the same applies for EU transfers (SEPA). There is also an upcoming change to account numbers and sort codes to have a uniform EU format which is impossible to remember. The UK is a member of SEPA.
