Well they seem to solve the problem you are asking about…… 
The weather radar overlay in Skyvector seems indeed not to work in Europe currently.
I agree that this information would be a useful addition to Autorouter on the planning chart.
Whatever it is, it needs to work on a phone, because Autorouter itself works ok on a phone and I don’t carry a laptop or a tablet on short trips. I just carry a backup phone But more to the point a laptop might not be handy when you have to replan a route due to wx – because it may be in the back of the plane while you are somewhere else.
