Basel LFSB

Yes, that is indeed the landing fee, which you might expect to be invoiced from the airport.

No, when parking on the regular French apron, you don’t need the GAC and their handling services at all. In the latter case, EuroAirport is your ‘handler’ and they will process you through the regular passenger terminal. There you can pass immigration and choose which exit you want to take, either EU (France) or Switzerland. This is totally different, compared to the GAC, where you enter defacto Swiss territory directly. So using French apron, you don’t pay any GAC fees, but in return, you have to pay the mandatory bus ride (or accompanied walk with a marshaller) from and to your aircraft. Ask EuroAirport directly for PPR. Contact details can be found here.

Hi Frans,

Thanks for that information. Yes, GAC not BAC – I’ve corrected my original post.

The GAC have offered to take me to immigration to clear as part of that 30 CHF. Would asking EuroAirport to park on there turf and have GAC come take me to/from be an acceptable thing for them to do?

Aerops gives me this flat fee;

BAC sounds like ELLX, in LFSB you have a GAC.

Handling and parking fees for the GAC apron are indeed correct. They’re very friendly, easy, and efficient to deal with. Please do note that parking on the regular (international) apron is cheaper, but in return, you need a chargeable bus ride from and to your aircraft. Depending on the duration of your stay (especially 2+ nights), this might save you a lot of money, compared to parking on the GAC apron. Parking on the normal apron requires however PPR directly from EuroAirport.

There is btw no need to go to customs separately, sending a customs form 1 hr prior ETA or ETD is for GAC use enough. Immigration might however be different.

Landing fees can be found using AeroPS. The invoice will arrive later by E-Mail.

So GAC doesn’t seem too expensive.

30 CHF, includes taking me to/from customs for stampy stamp.
80CHF to park per night.

However told that airport fees (Presume not parking?) will come later – What will they be? Anyone in the know, as Pireps don’t give much Information.

but high fees?

Yes, you are right @Frans, the notion of what is high, affordable, or cheap widely differs on this forum. For me, landing at LSZR is 1/3rd more expensive than say comparable fields such as LSGS, LSGL, LSZS, LSZG, etc.
So for me only, rather high fees and I’d rather spend my €€€ or CHF on Mogas than on landing fees 😉

LSZR is great. Exactly the opposite of the braindead crowd normally running airports. Friendly, efficient and pro-active. And when landing at LSZR with GA it is possible to hop right into their beautiful E170 Jet to LOWW for a special reduced fare price.

Restrictive opening hours yes, but high fees? Up to 1400 kg MTOW, definitely no.
LSZR does not charge handling, winter, or passenger fees for aircrafts up to 3t MTOW. Additionally, parking during the day is free of charge, you only pay per night. And LSZR also doesn’t have an additional international surcharge.

Landing fees do increase fast from 1.500 kg MTOW upwards, but are still reasonable up to 3.000kg MTOW.
Fees can be reviewed here.

Middle of nowhere? Compared to LFSB? Really? Not much more for a taxi from LSZR to St Gallen or Romanshorn than LFSB to Basel HB. Train to Zurich HB is the same time in any case. And the big airport time and hassle overhead of LFSB is missing at LSZR. Sure, compared to Birrfeld LSZF it is expensive, but I believe the OP wants an IFR airfield and LFSB costs a lot more. The only real nuisance at LSZR with opening hours is the mid-day closure. If the destination is more central, then Berne LSZB (or Grenchen LSZG) are good options, and I believe options are what the OP was seeking. At the end of the day, opinions are just that. Each pilot has her own priorities, draws her own conclusions, and makes (and lives with) her own choices. For me, I wrote off Basel LFSB when they charged me €150 for the shuttle from the GAC to the terminal and back for customs (which was close enough to walk), alone (no pax), one minute ride.

LSZR Altenrhein/St Gallen isn‘t being suggested

Sure, but the airport is a long way from St. Gallen city. In that regard, whilst in a beautiful setting, it is still in the middle of nowhere.
