I had acquired a couple of Shadin ADC200 airdata computers, of unknown origin.
So I took one of them apart. The internal are a trip back in time into the early history of microprocessors, and a fine example of “spare bedroom” manufacturing
The processor is an 8032
The second PCB has various analog bits
Various date codes on components suggest it was made in 1995.
Interesting how they wrapped up the differential pressure transducer – presumably to protect it from excessively rapid temperature changes
Even for the era, there is an astonishing amount of hardware in there!
The ever popular EDM700 (a similarly priced box) is the same inside…

On most equipment, it is isolation for the heater. Typically no temperature correction is used, but an heater to make it temperature indendent. This is also true for altitude encoders for example, sometimes people complain on temperature of avionics, while is some cases, with some older GPS receivers, Air Data Computers, or Aspen for example.
