PilotAware (merged thread)

Bump.

@pilotaware, how is the coverage over mainland Europe nowadays ?

EBST, Belgium

We are most definitely updating stations in Europe, but cannot do this alone, and as was mentioned – need help
We will provide what hardware and software we have free of charge, but need help from installers
There is a growing network now in Germany
https://pilotaware.com/ogn/

The real benefit, is that we are also trialling the uplink of ModeS data – we call this Mode-S/3D, there is a description here
https://pilotaware.com/modes3d/

Anyone wishing to install a new OGN-R or upgrade an existing OGN please contact us on
[email protected]

Thx
Lee

Ok sorry, I didn’t realise that PilotAware couldn’t recieve FLARM signals directly.

Indeed, but as this thread shows, not all purchasers are aware of it.

I wonder if @pilotaware is still around?

The rebroadcast of Flarm information is based on volunteers up-dating their OGN receiver to be able to retransmit on the PilotAware frequency/protocol.
PilotAware being British they have concentrated their communication, effort and money in getting OGN receiver in the UK updated first.

Nothing astonishing.

Isn’t FLARM a Swiss company!?

only after i orderd a pilotaware rosetta I came round here and on other places to find out that FLARM does not work here in Switzerland as Groundstations are not updated, so i have a brand new one without use ;-( if anyone needs one for a good price contact me. Lucas

I am also considering Pilotaware or Powerflarm.
From what I understand, Pilot Aware is mostly usable in UK, based on ground stations, at least for Flarm transmission or C/S TPD for azimuth.
How does C/S tracking works in areas where there is no radar service (it happened to me last month crossing the Channel with bad visibility) or in remote areas like Maroc, Mauritania (where I will be in two weeks) ?
