I have been two times to Aero Expo with ultralight and GA group. We have landed at EDTM (Mengen) and EDNL (Leutkirch). This year I plan to land at EDNY. They are opening online booking system from February 15, 2024.
How this slot system works in case the weather conditions are changing and you must delay the arrival or departure for example for 3 hours?
Maybe you have some advice that should be prepared before flying to EDMY during Aero Expo?
At Aero, they tend to be relatively strict about the ETA and ATA. It has happened that they asked ATC/AIS to suspend flightplans which are not roughly aligned with the obtained slot.
That said, being in ULMs, I suggest you consider Markdorf airfield. It is MUCH closer to Friedrichshafen than Mengen und Leutkirch, and of course is not subject to any slot regulations. It is only 500 meters grass though, and last year (I believe) it drowned in rain.
