If you were to upgrade, what to (and what from) and why?

ith the focus on a family, I would maybe look at the PA30/39 Twin Commanche for that upgrade. Or, possibly, a Seneca II or higher, which is the two engine variant of the Saratoga. Price wise they are in the same region than their single engine brothers but they do have that 2nd engine in case of cases.

Why would you want a second engine on a Comanche? Those engines never fail :-) on a serious note though, they are incredibly well built planes and a 260C will be noticeably faster than the twin on 11Gallons at 10K feet with the new engine I am now consistently getting 172kts indicated. You’ll have no problem flying a family of four and full fuel around. I get 8.5hours of autonomy with the tiptanks. Only regret I have on the plane is that it is not FIKI. Living in the mountains it is very often a real show stopper in winter…
