Thanks for the info, @Canuck, interesting. As I said, I have never seen (or heard of) anything like pulsing landing lights (other than done manually). Most / all the airplanes I have ever flown in the US had strobes and you are correct, many are now outfitted with LEDs, which are a great improvement btw, much brighter.
