Which way do you go @Stickandrudderman ? The road looks like scary 💀 but there’s a cliff top path via Culver Down or possibly across the fields near the fort?
From the Propeller Inn entrance walk west along the road a few meters and then turn south up a narrow lane. Just keep following that lane until you end up at a footpath that goes up the hill towards the monument. From the monument you can head along the cliff tops to Sandown.
