EASA SEP shop / mechanic in northern US or AK, and how to maintain an EASA-reg outside Europe

As we plan our “big trip” later this year (via KOSH to PAMR and back), we are looking for an option to do an EASA 50h inspection on a SEP. There are couple of EASA shops in FL and CA that do SEP and few of them in the north but they only seem to do Jets but we couldn’t identify an SEP shop in the north.

Any idea where to go to?

P.S.: I’m fully aware that there also might be the option to change the AMP and do the 50h as owner maintenance “assisted” by a FAA-mechanic who is obviously fully capable of doing it – but we also look for an other option…

According to their websites all of them in the north are only doing jets – wanted to take a shortcut from calling all of them…

A lot of people have this issue on long trips in EASA-regs, with both maintenance generally and the 50hr limit specifically. They get an authorisation from back home. A US A&P should meet the ICAO requirements. You don’t need an FAA Part 145.

It gets way more complicated if you need the Annual; some funny stories there.

Not necessary anymore since Part-ML.

Declare an AMP (e.g. based on EASA MIP) without 50hr inspection (it is not required). As „doing more maintenance“ is allowed, pay a mechanic/or do an oil change + other items in the US and sign it off as the Pilot Owner.
