EDM engine monitor - can stream data out continuously

I have just discovered this. It’s interesting because it offers a way around the stupidly small data memory in these 1980s-design units.

This extract from the POH shows the config option

You choose NO for the RECORD option

and the stuff just keeps squirting out, for ever…

So, one just needs a little RS232 data logger, plus the obligatory velcro

Everybody and their dog makes little data loggers. Any ideas? It needs one 232 port for the input and another (possibly USB) for reading it out. Ideally it should separate the data into blocks, based on timeouts. I have not tested this but there are indications the data comes out in plain ASCII, CSV format.

This probably means the JPI software can’t be used for plotting the data, but that hardly matters. It doesn’t seem to do anything that one cannot view on Excel in seconds.

…you are catching my drift.(idea of the 610..) .I see…

EBST

I think they have an USB option with continuous logging. Just put a stick in and you are done.

JPI told me that the real time data output is for people who Air Race and need to transmit telemetry to the ground crew.
