I think there’s still over 1,000 operational NDBs across the USA (see this recent navaid database), but glad to see that didn’t prevent the FAA from removing any questions about them with their latest refresh of airmen theory test questions. Sounds like they removed a bunch of other outdated stuff too.
Does this mean that FAA qualified pilots will now need extra training to do a missed approach in Europe, when the NDB forms an essential part?

Having sat two FAA writtens the vague, poorly printed NDB questions will not be missed.
My understanding is that the questions are being removed from the private pilot knowledge exam, not from the IFR knowledge exam.
