Flight to Faroe Islands from UK

Hi all,

Has anyone achieved the flight to the Faroe Islands?

Is it possible to fly into the islands from the UK?

We are possibly looking to do this in August!!

Thanks

Mark

I have been there from Greenland enroute the UK. It is fine but a tricky approach in instrument conditions. Not much near the airport but rest of islands supposed to be OK.

Oh ok cool so it is possible then ? No major restrictions for light aircraft from the UK?

You will have to check the AIP but I don’t think so.

Have had no problem in the past flying there from the UK, if you need any info call Andrew at Far North Aviation Wick, which is also
a good fuel stop en route. Faroe Islands is a great destination but check the weather before leaving Wick.

Brilliant thanks very much all as always!

I’ve flown past en-route Iceland to Wick, but haven’t landed.

It has a reputation for moderate to severe turbulence on the approach in all but the lightest winds, so make sure you have sensible diversion fuel.
Vagar – EKVG – is the only airport and the Danish AIP has good charts and detailed information.

I’d like to visit sometime to see the wildlife, scenery and island lifestyle. But make sure the weather outlook is good before heading North!
