It’s fun what can be done if you have a ship steaming flat out, into wind, and a plane with a Vs of mins 20kt 
I have seen this before, and while at first I thought it was a bit foolish, I think you get the sense this was fairly well planned, and indeed the pilot is extremely skilled.
