12-day flying trip from NL to Malta and back

Just returned from a 12-day flying trip from NL to Chambery and Courchevel, then to Lido near Venice. Great airport by the way, even though it has only a grass runway. After doing Venice we flew on to a fly-in on Sicily and went to Malta for refueling. Then on the North-bound flights we visited Corsica, stopped over in the area of Nevers and then flew to Mannheim City Airport to attend another fly-in event in Heidelberg. Finally we flew home with a short stopover at Saint-Hubert (EBSH) to arrive home again in The Netherlands.

I have made some pictures of the trip. You can find them here for those interested: https://flic.kr/s/aHskdKReNw

EDLE, Netherlands

The high life, very nice pictures!

EHTE, Netherlands

This https://flic.kr/p/uMX3sn shows an unusual runway. I wonder how wide the narrow main part actually is. It does require the pilot to land right on the spot.

Frequent travels around Europe

No, it has the same width through all its length. It’s an optical illusion due to the changing slope. The strip is called Eremo della Giubiliana.

Sjoerd: how did you get permission to land there? For as long as I know, the owner would not permit such heavy airplanes to land there…

Well, the thresholds are obviously wider than the rest; my fault.

For the rest, looks like a fantastic trip that’s been thourougly enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

What happened at St. Hubert?
