UK doing a ADS-B trial whereby a FISO could provide a "traffic based FIS"

Trial Report

It appears that the objective is to get more people to emit ADS-B by whatever means, but since this is for aircraft carrying mainly uncertified ADS-B OUT, it is doubtful the CAA will ever be able to make carriage mandatory. Uavionix is very involved in the promotion, as one would expect.

One of the trial sites is the infamous Barton

Zero interest in this one, interestingly

Could it be because too many people have have a “bullsh*t threshold detector”?

Well, I did read the summary and abbreviated report.

Seems like a no-brainer.

Oh wait! Some clever UK CAA staff are working flat out to discourage ADS-B out and Mode S transmission in any crowded/constrained G airspace or near any ATZ…
