"Climate Activists" vandalise business jets

I would think people at every intellectual level respond to messages designed to instill fear It’s a one size, fits all kind of thing.

Is this really the way to get anyone to try to do their bit to save the planet or is it more likely to antagonise people and make you think that man made climate change is something thought up by a bunch of weirdos.
In my younger days we never thought about what the “beardy weardys” the “tree huggers”
“the corduroy trouser brigade” the “new worldies”" the hipppies" actually stood for, let alone try to find out whether or not they had a valid point. We just dismissed them and took the pxss. Actually the hippies were more considered for the free love (rampant sex) and the music.
None of which anyone born after the 1950’s will know what I’m talking about.😊

Born early 60s and know what you’re referring to. It appears though, that each decade has their muppets. You know, like the Women of Greenham Common who threatened not to shave their armpits unless the Yanks removed their cruise missiles – something like that…. I think the threat of a soap dodging woman waving her armpits at you after a week on the common is enough to deter any male….

Only this time the proponents are more aligned with general envy – they don’t have what others have so believe it’s ok to destroy or damage the property…. What buffoons….

I’m known some civil disobedience people (not involved with the kind of actions we’re currently discussing, though) and they were far from either naive or stupid. Nor were they out of jobs.

This is hardly Ghandian civil disobedience. It is vandalism, fueled by quasi-religious stupidity.

I would think people at every intellectual level respond to messages designed to instill fear It’s a one size, fits all kind of thing.

I think people with reasonable intelligence don’t foresee the likelihood of the death penalty for stealing an aircraft radio etc, regardless of what the sign says. But I think people who are dumb and impressionable might be scared to scale the fence, upon seeing the sign. That would apply equally to idiots with paint, although we in the US don’t so far have this particular variety of airport fence hopping idiots and probably won’t get them since people mostly like GA airports.

My hangar is a pretty secure place to keep motorcycles etc as well as my plane. I don’t think any of them will be vandalized or stolen any time soon given little envy, airport signage, a fence and a pleasant security guard who sometimes stops for a bite to eat and a chat. He knows what’s in almost every hangar, and who owns it. Our refrigerator is his refrigerator. Eventually, and if necessary I’ll also be able to run any of them on 100UL brought on the fuel truck to the hangar. I understand 100UL is not dyed. It’s good to plan ahead

Some are fairly clever, but without guidance in life got into groups that embrace you and make you feel wanted. Scientology, anyone? They very specifically target “lost youths”. In the old days it was socialist/communism.

I spent quite a bit of time with a friend in Italy who fits this model exactly, living off government ‘scholarships’ (hidden welfare) and his family perpetually, while making trips to Russia and Ukraine for what might politely be called ‘entertainment’ with destitute members of the opposite sex. Still to this day 15 years later he’s never had a meaningful job, despite having several masters degrees. However given the somewhat more enlightened environment of say 2005-2010 versus the ‘old days’ he was a bit unusual. In the end he found an ambitious and intelligent woman to provide for him, which in my experience is fairly typical nowadays. Another of his friends ended up being an elected local politician, something to do with social programs – he had the advantage of very good looks. You can imagine the discussions we had (often in Italian, in a group). It was really fun, especially when funded on my side by a good job at home, with pay earned by showing up to work.

like the Women of Greenham Common who threatened not to shave their armpits

I think there was another reason why exactly 50% of those would have not shaved their armpits

is enough to deter any male

The requirement for deterring males was quite minimal, due to a lack of interest in males

But, hey, they had an easy life in those simple days. Nowadays they would have had “trans women” (i.e. men with blonde wigs, and stretch leggings tight enough to enable their religion to be established by inspection at a distance) demanding to share their tents

My point was that fierce signposting and enforcement follow through might assist in scaring off the brainwashed idiots at the scene, even if those at the scene aren’t as smart in understanding consequences

The Scottish Police treatment of them.

Immediate arrest, immediate removal from site in the riot van, handed a court instruction that if they set foot back at where they were lifted, re arrest and remand until trial.

Guess what. It seems to work.

Also lay a hand on any law enforcement officer – Police Assault. Tend not to see the perps again.

It was my usual non-PC style, this time commenting on the Greenham Common protesters

I always thought the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp was remembered as a good thing?

At some point I think the movement attracted 50,000 women, many of which were well manicured, middle class, home counties pillars of society :)
