Flying the Hump 70 years ago

Excellent and entertaining article about the C46 in world war two. I will never disparage the NDB approach again!!

C_M nice article. A relative, who is still going strong flew the Hump. Initially based at Wittering, where the now derelict Ram Jam Inn held fond memories, he ended up after the war in North West Canada as a founder pilot of Pacific Western on DC-3s, then 4s and 6s and eventually 737s. The DC-3 remains his all time favorite and I think he has over 12,000 hours in them, although hung up his headset some time ago.

…as a footnote the C-46 was the most successful product of the Curtiss-Wright conglomerate. Not sure where this company based on the two greatest early pioneers ended up, probably a footnote in the history of General Dynamics?

My mistake, still independent and available on the NYSE!
