Australia following US Basic Med system - will anybody else follow?

I wonder if anyone in Europe will follow? EASA is the constraining factor although the UK has the unique NPPL + medical self declaration.

It would be sensible to follow. The risk presented by non-comnercial pilots with health conditions is quite low. The health requirements are somewhat disproportionate compared to road traffic, where at least in Germany lots of sick people get to drive around as much as they like.

They present a much clearer danger to others compares to light GA pilots, but their requirements are much less strict. This doesn’t make sense.
