Just tested this flying the RNAV RWY25 at EDMA. The G1000 definitely will not auto arm the GS capture unless you press APR.
I am talking about GPS/LNAV, not GPS/LPV.
Also I am sure the DFC90 does something different…
From the point of view of the autopilot, they are identical. The same is true for the indications on the CDI. The only noticeable difference is the annunciation on the GPS, one annunciates as LPV and the other annunciates as LNAV+V.
