Vacuum Pump Replacement

The Tempest pump is installed and working well… Tightening the most inaccessible of the four mounting nuts is a lot easier with the wrench/spanner made for that purpose. US $25 to buy, but a way to repay my A&P friend for ‘supervising’ me and making an appropriate logbbok entry. His had broken or been lost so he needed a new one.

I was reflecting on recent EuroGA discussions as I primed using the hand pump, started the engine with the mag/starter switch and watched the vacuum gauge needle snap to attention together with the oil pressure indicator (the one with a hose attached). Everybody is different, but for me it’s so nice to break out of numb computer dominated everyday life, escape software, and operate an analog machine.
