N-reg in a trust (merged)

I’ve also been using Bob Garretson (International Air Services) for the last 6 years with no problems.

Crude web site, but he’s the cheapest and does the job.

You guys made me think about changing to SAC. Has anybody changed his aircraft from an existing trust to another one? What were the necessary steps? How much downtime did you have? Extra costs?

I have never heard of anyone changing. Can’t be hard but will require reissuance of quite a few docs including registration and aircraft radio. Suggest you ask SAC.

I changed (within SAC) some years ago. Can’t recall the reason but it was some detail like a company name change. I had to start a fresh £450/year trust. Nothing special.

I have some reserves concerning “Captain Bob” :

I looked up him up and found his residence is actually “Leisure World” in Seal Beach. This is a very old retirement community in SoCal.

I believe he is >80 years old. He has no employees or assistance.

What happens when he becomes either invalid or dies ?

I’ve met Bob at his Seal Beach house (I was living not far away at the time).
As I understand, there are several directors of IAS and they would all have to die together for there to be a problem.

Ok, so do you have that list of “Directors” ?

(ps: I grew up not far from “Seizure World” as we used to call it when I was a young kid (50 years ago!) – I can just IMAGINE Cap’tain Bob riding around in his electric golf cart with his Captain’s Cap on and sitting down for an afternoon of Bridge with the Ole’ Gals ! )

Not sure this is the right forum… but anyway, assuming I go ahead with my plan to move my N-reg TR182 to Mandelieu (LFMD), I will need to transfer ownership to a US trust to remain legal (since I am not a US citizen).

Who would you recommend, or advise against?

Many thanks…

@johnh post moved to existing thread on trusts.

I am still with Southern Aircraft and have been with them very happily since 2005.

Been with IAS and Southern. Both good outfits, no issues, although IAS cheaper. The reason I moved to IAS. 10 years now and never had a problem and Bob has been very helpful on the odd occasion I needed some advice.
