Removing TB20 GT rear windows

Has anybody ever done this on a TB20 GT?

I am currently looking at repainting the aircraft. Around the rear windows the paint is slightly cracked and it would probably be better to remove the windows for the painting process.

My concern is this. The aircraft is kept outside with a cover on it, as we have no hangars at my home base. The aircraft does not leak at the moment and I don’t want to increase the likelihood of it leaking by removing the rear windows.

Have you any experience of this and what was the result, a dry aeroplane or a wet one.

AFAIK the rear windows are just stuck in with a sealant. Looking at Socata practice (windscreen sealant) it is probably a 2-pack fuel tank sealant which used to be called PR1422, now PR1440 and others which are similar. However you could also use a good quality silicone e.g. Sikaflex 295.

Thanks

The Socata owners group tell me that they are bonded in on the GT, plus the screws which are visible.

Probably a similar method to that used on cars (Renault) and the Sika 295 would work.
