I wonder what really happened? Did he issue outright-bogus certificates, or was he doing checkrides while banned by the FAA from doing so? The latter has actually happened in a well known case and some of the candidates (I recall one of them telling me personally) enforced it with legal action against the FAA i.e. they didn’t have to get retested.
It happened with DPE Eddy Lane at the Las Vegas FSDO as well. All his students had to retest. This wasn’t that long ago either.
What exactly was he doing?
