From the BeechTalk forum: pilot was Denny Craig, 79, an extremely experienced ferry pilot with over 55000hrs of flying time. The Cirrus was enroute from South Africa to the US and was on South African registry. Wonder what happened?

It might have nothing to do with the accident, but maybe worth mentioning: There were some serious “Föhn” winds in the western Alps last weekend. Many pilots avoided flying in high mountainous terrain, but I’m not sure if that was already the case on Friday.
