Stepping up to a Meridian - a fantasy?

Hello all,
I used to fly a Meridian and with 6 adults on board you should not look to much at the weight (just balance)…
It get really small in terms of luggage with 6 POB…
However it’s a very capable airplane, I liked the climb rate speed and weather radar.

Hello all,

Many thanks for the informative and well-balanced views!

Surely, an IR is more than “nice-to-have” when operating such a plane (not so much for airspace access though, at least in countries without a class A/B “lid”). I thought to keep it out of the discussion initially as the attainability of the IR as such is a lot clearer than the feasibility of flying the Meridian.

The long-term reliability of the charter offer is a very good point though. With a specific type rating that requires a considerable investment, this is quite different from transition to specific types within a class rating.

Also, I did not necessarily overlook the PA32 and comparable types – I just think it’s again a different discussion and also I don’t know of any available PA32 to rent in my area.
