I know companies from northern Europe sometimes run into corruption when bidding on contracts “south of the alps”. They get the “nudge-nudge, wink-wink” bit from the ones doing the tender, but it´s all illegal off course. Looking at how difficult it was to get Berlusconi convicted of anything at all is a stark reminder that rule of law is not the same all over EU.
