Hi all, I’m planning a trip to the Emerald Isle this weekend and can’t decide between Waterford and Kilkenny – as destinations – both have good airfields. Any thoughts gratefully received! 
Try Sligo – no need for car hire, you can walk to accommodation / pub / restaurant. Waterford and Kilkenny – car hire might be difficult.
Thanks, that’s good to know, although we were aiming to explore on foot. Sligo looks nice but an hour further, so maybe for another time as it’s short hop. Any preference over Kilkenny or Waterford? I get the feeling the former is prettier but not sure…
I’d certainly prefer Kilkenny City over Waterford City on a weekend.
Lots of nice bars, nightclubs and restaurants.
Kilkenny airfield is much less developed. It’s a grass field. Used to have a wet patch on one end when it rained. Check the surface conditions before you go if that’s cruital to you.
Thanks dublinpilot, that might just swing it. At 930m that’s a pretty generous grass runway too!
