EuroGA 13-14 May 2017 Fly-In Roskilde EKRK / Copenhagen

There hasn’t even been a discussion about the date — only the month. I suggest sometime in the middle. The 20th?

The thread title mentions 13-14 May

Right you are! I didn’t notice…

So Roskilde (Copenhagen) it is. I really look forward to this because I would love to take my wife there.

The airport has plenty of parking, two fuel stations from two different suppliers (BP and Shell?), a short taxi (or bus?) ride to the Roskilde train station which is 30 minutes from various train stations within Copenhagen.

During my last (and only) stay in Copenhagen I stayed at Hotel Østerport which is just opposite a railway station with a direct connection to Roskilde, in walking distance to Kastellet, the Little Mermaid, still in walking distance (although longish) from Nyhavn, but I am sure you can catch a bus or tram if allergic to walking. That hotel was very nice with a lot of common areas where one can sit down and socialise.

The city has a lot to offer, from Tivoli to various art museums, beautiful neighbourhoods with loads of cafes/bars/restaurants like Nyhavn, the anarchist quarter of Christiania where certain substances are just as common as in Amsterdam’s coffeehouses.

Some practical tips wrt to airport facilities, logistics, places to stay, things to see etc would be appreciated from the locals like @mmgreve . I think there may be a couple of other pilots based at EKRK who could chime in as well.

A local could check how to rent a bus from the airport to Copenhagen city center and back for all pilots and their passengers. The public bus is out of service at Sunday, a taxi is ridiculous expensive, forget it. Or think about buying a Brompton

Not from the Roskilde airport to the Roskilde train station. That is a perfectly affordable 10 minute ride. And the train fare from Roskilde to Copenhagen is very reasonable too.

And renting a bus is out of the question as far as I am concerned. First of all because everybody will not arrive at the same time. Then also because nobody is going to make a deposit for the bus rental and take on the risk of never recovering his money if noone shows up. Or one would need to ask for an up-front payment from the participants.

Thread renamed with the destination.

I would recommend one of the locals based there taken on the organisation of this event.

Looks like a nice place to take my Brompton (folding bike). Always a nice sensation to unfold an cycle to the terminal (I ask on the radio first if there is a tower). Fun to see the looks of people boarding commercial flights.

Can you imagine the sensation when I “unfold” my Europa after pulling it out of the Trailer

In 2008 I paid 23 Euro for only 5 Kilometers to the train station one way, on Sunday it is even more expensive. Since then I take my Brompton to the train station. And yes, the train ride is fast and affordable, only 21 Minutes to Copenhagen.
