Unfortunately, this morning DA40NG crashed in Germany after departure from Augsburg EDMA. Both occupants perished in the accident.
Notably the first fatal GA accident in the whole Germany/Austria/Switzerland area since October 2022…
Much conflicting information ATM. But what seems to be clear is that debris is all over the place.
I guess it was VFR flight. What was the weather this morning in the crash area?
Unverified: read something about snow showers near the Czech border where the accident happened…
Here are historical weather conditions at closest airport (same valley, just across the border):

Let’s see….
Agreed!
Found a webcam of Neuschönau, which is the nearest village according to the accident report linked in the first post here. I noted that weather of yesterday’s morning was deteriorating. When they departed Augsburg, the mountains in the background of that webcam were still below clouds, but around the time of the accident they were fully in clouds, so the cloud base was significantly lower.

The village Neuschönau is at 770m AMSL.
