FAA pilot maintenance privileges - a new interpretation

US AOPA article

This has been “in the system” for about 10 years but few knew about it.

Thanks Peter. That has always been my interpretation and it’s nice to see it in writing from the Administration.

I think it is also self-evident that what is “simple or minor” to one person may appear “complex” to another, and vice versa. To that extent, the definition of “preventative maintenance“ is a subjective one which involves a modicum of common sense on the part of the Part 91 owner/pilot.

In this, and perhaps with other aspects of aviation, “a man’s got to know his limitations”.

I agree with Jacko. It is mostly common sense.

Agree with Jacko too.
