The question of why (getting your wife to join) pops up in my top. It’s in the middle of the mountains, far away from any large city. Outdoor mountain activities is what you do there. Skiing, fishing on the frozen lake, dog sleigh (for days at a time if you want, going from cabin to cabin, or simply sleep outdoor) etc. Actually, mountain and hiking activities is one of the top places where people find new dates, no kidding. However, how to get my wife to join
Edit: That didn’t come out exactly right, but good enough
I like destinations like this. However, how to get my wife to join. I showed her the website of the hotel. Nothing to do there was her comment…
The ice under the airstrip is actually 70 cm or more. According to Army regulation it can hold a vehicle of 45 tons. According to more strict civilian regulations “only” 25 tons. This means of course that all Cirruses must be landed extremely gently
All you need is a nose-up attitude and a rate of descent.
But the truck didn’t land….
If you think that’s a problem then I don’t want to know how you land
But the truck didn’t land….
It did hold the truck that removed the snow…
This looks like a great destination! Would the ice hold a SR22 or PA46?
The ice will hold a tank. I would guess between 30 and 50 cm

There is enough braking action on the ice to stop in 1000 m. Aerodynamic braking goes a long way, and there are asperities on the surface of the ice that create some friction.
I have landed on runways so slippery that I fell flat on my face when leaving the aircraft – particularly at ENHA.
