Random weather Musings

Yesterday flying back from LUX, we encountered an area – coincidentally lining up with the jetstream and below the area of forecast turbulence (FL100) we were getting thrown about a fair bit on the southern core of the jet for about 20 minutes. When we were in the middle of it, it was relatively smooth.

The wind was changing a fair bit, but only a few degrees and a few knots, but we were being rocked about till coasting out north of COA VOR. Surprised by that as the forecast shouldn’t have impacted us, but presume it was affecting us further down?
