Not sure why the Air Force Academy decided to go gliding on that day (about a year ago), perhaps the TAFs did not have any warnings.

That looks like steady 55 knots wind, doesn’t look gusty at all. Why do they call it microburst?
Apparently, from the video, the stick and rudder skills are much better than the skills of deciding a go/no go operation Reminds we when we flew in 150 km/h winds (up high, only 20-30 knots at the bottom of the valley at the field). At one point one glider measured 180 km/h head wind.

Some serious damage at Popham, a Luscombe blown over and even an An-2 damaged on the lower wing?

You might want to turn down the volume (wind noise).
Now it reminds me why I prefer powered flight: my coat, hat and scarf safely parked in the back seat, nice and toasty up front!
